The regulated consumer financial services industry started with a simple idea: Provide an easy way for hardworking people to convert paychecks into cash within a short walk from their homes or jobs. From its inception in the 1930s, largely as a response to the banking practices of the Depression era and changes in employer payment practices, the industry has evolved to become the pivotal link to the payments system for millions of Americans. In 1987, the National Check Cashers Association was first established to represent the members of this growing industry.

Over the years our member companies have broadened their offerings to include a wide array of financial services. The organization voted to change the association’s name to the Financial Service Centers of America (FiSCA), effective January 1, 2000, to reflect the industry’s growth and diversity.

After 20 years serving as the industry’s leading voice on legislative, regulatory, and business issues, INFiN, a Financial Services Alliance, was formed in 2020. Comprising members of Financial Service Centers of America (FiSCA) and the Community Financial Services Association of America (CFSA), INFiN builds on the history and proven track record of leadership and partnership provided by two of the oldest national trade associations in the regulated consumer financial services industry.

INFiN is now the leading national trade association representing the diverse and innovative consumer financial services industry, with a membership that’s bound by a shared commitment to their customers, regulatory compliance, and transparency.
